About the Show
This wonderful children’s musical is based on the award-winning children’s book by Melinda Long, in which Jeremy Jacobs is recruited to help bury the treasure. At first he enjoys the pirate life, but soon realizes that he misses the treasures of home. It has 11 songs and lots of physicality, including swashbuckling, soccor, storms at sea and more. We are also planning to include pre-show fun, including pirates roaming the audience, costume parades for kids and more.
ROLES AVAILABLE:
We are looking for a group of creative, enthusiastic, team players that are comfortable performing for and interacting with children. Everyone must have a good sense of physical comedy. All roles sing and must move well. All ethnicities are encouraged to audition. There are roles for seven adult/teen pirates and one kid.
JEREMY JACOBS – (A boy or girl, age 8 – 12) who is recruited to be a pirate, but discovers that the pirate life is not all it’s cracked up to be. Must be a strong singer and move well.
BRAID BEARD – (Male) Captain of the ship, a big man with a tough exterior, but sweet at heart.
SWILL – (male or female) Philosophical, intellectual, gets blamed for everything that goes wrong
SHARKTOOTH – (male) Foreboding with a scowling grin, wears an eye patch, but is really a ‘sensitive guy’
PIERRE – (male) The ship’s cook. Speaks with a French accent, enjoys fine French cuisine
MAX/MAXINE – (male or female) Wears a stuffed parrot on his/her shoulder & no one has the heart to tell him/her it’s not real
BRAUNSCHWAGGER – (male or female) First mate, not too bright, echoes much of what the captain says
SCURVEY DOG – (male or female) Second mate, gets treated like a dog, a very physical role
