The Growing Stage is our popular education program, offering classes such as Musical Theatre, Monologues, Singer’s Solo Studio and more for kids ages 5 – 17. Our philosophy is that performing arts help kids communicate, cooperate, create and celebrate.

SUMMER INTENSIVES  2012

WE HAVE MADE SOME EXCITING CHANGES THIS YEAR!

1. We have expanded our Summer Intensives from two weeks to THREE WEEKS!

Why? We want to provide meaningful, fun experiences for all our students. In recent years we have felt rushed to get the showcase ready for an audience. We strongly believe that the process is more important than the product. Three week sessions will allow us to focus more on the students – making sure all students have a fulfilling experience.

2. We will only offer two sessions this year.

Why? Because we rent space, we have to work with other organization’s schedules. Six weeks of instruction this summer works with everyone’s schedule!

3. Classes will be at two different venues.

Why? We want to connect with theatre organizations in Albuquerque who share our vision for theatre education. We will be at National Dance Institute’s Hiland Theatre Complex for the first session. Our second session will be at Musical Theatre Southwest’s brand new Black Box Theater and warehouse.

Summer Session #1   June 18 – July 6, 2012 at NDI New Mexico’s Hiland Theater Complex

Summer Session #2   July 9 – 27, 2012 at Musical Theatre Southwest’s new Black Box Theater

Summer workshops are for ages 5 – 16. Each three-week intensive workshop meets from 9am to 3:30pm and culminates with a showcase for family and friends on the final evening. Kids have fun developing their skills in acting, stagecraft, vocal & dance technique and technical theatre while making friends and working as a team on their show.

Tuition: $700  (additional sessions or siblings will receive a $50 discount)

TEEN MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

This year, we are expanding our mentorship program. Teens (13 & up) who have an interest in technical theatre (instead of performing) get hands on experience with stage lighting design & operation, set design & construction, costume design and sound design & operation. This special program is limited to only four participants and is available at a tuition rate of $400 per session.
